Thermostat Pros: Universal design, can control up to 2 stage cool/3 stage heat including heat pumps/geothermal units. No batteries required to operate system (battery in photo is used to keep time during power outages). Auto change over, Each day of the week can be setup with 6 separate time schedules. About 1/2" thick, slim on wall. Connection for outdoor sensor, can control dual fuel systems directly without a "heat pump kit" and can limit condenser/furnace operation to programmable outdoor temperatures. Can vary the setpoint depending on the cost of energy, works automatically with Smarthours Program. Thermostat is free including professional installation for Smarthours customers who want one. Comes with 5 year warranty and even includes the cost of the service call.

Thermostat Cons: Thermostat has zigbee radio but network security prevents consumers from programming with phone/PC. Utility will possibly enable Apps/PC in the future. No remote room sensor option. Requires 24V common connection to operate.
