    Shut off baseboard heater valve

Our pneumatic thermostat JohnsonControls (direct acting, 2 pipe) appears to be stuck in the "on" position and, since it's a pneumatic and old technology, I'm having problems getting someone to come out and fix it. While I look to get a repairman, I'd just like to manually turn off the baseboard heat if possible because it keeps pushing out heat, making it hard to sleep. I'm attaching a picture of the valve for the baseboard heater. Can I just turn this to the right and the heat will shut off?

    Thanks,

    Matt

I wouldn't touch it as it looks like it is already dripping. Can you turn off the boiler?

I'm in an apartment building so I can't turn off the boiler. I turned a similar valve clockwise in another room and am waiting to see if it cools down.
