    Wifi Issues with Nest

    I guess I am one of those who is on the trouble server..

    This is this morning on their site..

    Anyone else down.. ?? mine has been acting up ever since they worked on the servers on 1/1/2013




    Some people can't access Nest from the Web or Mobile apps due to a server issue. We're working to restore service as quickly as possible. But don't worry - your thermostat will still be working just fine.

    Ditto here... I am being patient but its starting to wear thin! For what we paid for these devices they should be able to afford to give them the highest level of support on the back end! Even the server status page is misleading in that they wipe any record of these hiccups off once they think they believe they have cleared them up and only leave the message about a server outage being restored on 1/1/13. Not one message remaining about the 7 or 8 server outages since that date?

    I completely agree.. Also CNET reviews these the best thermostat so I bought one and now I come to find this out.. Come on guys.. You created a decent product have the back end to support all the front end thermostats..

    Its just sad that we all paid $250 each for just a smart thermostat that works great off line but once online the backend servers die and stops working the front end servers..

    So far, I'm not too impressed with the service. I mean the thermostat is great, but I installed this on Saturday and have issues trying to control it via my phone, ipad, or the web. When I can get the app to work, I go check it and it says it's connected to my network, but the webpage or the app on the phone doesn't do anything at all.

    I do have a C wire hooked up to it. The ability to remote control it is very shaky. Does Nest have problems like this often? If so, I'll have to return it and by maybe an Ecobee or something.

    For all the HYPE that the NEST has it sure is not turning out to be a great thermostat. Multiple issues with many installations and operations of the thermostat. This all should have been worked out in BETA testing before ever being sent to the marketplace. IMO, the nest does not hold the value of the price tag. HW has now (finally) caught up to the race and has come out with wifi thermostats that DONT need a separate module for wifi access. The one thing that HW has done is to REQUIRE a C connection instead of trying to piggyback charge a battery like the nest does without the C connection. I install the HW stats all the time and have had no troubles such as what I have been seeing on multiple forums. I also install the ecobee stats often (not a fan of their touchscreen). Again, none of the problems that I have been seeing with the nest. Nest is simply not a "good" thermostat, IMO. Rant over....... (sorry)

    Well if its any consolation they have left the following message up on the server status page most of today:

    "Nest System Status
    If you're having trouble with your Nest, you can troubleshoot it here.

    Some people may be having intermittent troubles accessing Nest from the Web or Mobile apps due to a server issue. We're working to restore service as quickly as possible. But don't worry - your thermostat will still be working just fine.
    System status history:
    There have been no recent service interruptions."

    Although the last line is somewhat ironic considering the content of the first paragraph.

    I only saw 2 (?) question marks today, but I was a little too preoccupied at work today to play on my iPhone.

    I hope they can solve the problem once and for all tonight!
