Thread: Honeywell WiFi RTH8580WF Problem

    Post Honeywell WiFi RTH8580WF Problem

Hello. I installed a new Honeywell WiFi touchscreen thermostat rth8580wf. Everything seems to be working correctly except that I every time my ac unit or heat cycles on,it cycles on for approx 15-20 seconds, then it shuts off for 5-7 seconds and then cycles on and runs until it hits the set temperature. Is this normal? If not, does anyone know what's wrong and how I go about fixing it? I don't think that's good for the ac unit to keep cycling on and off every time it turns on. Thanks for any and all help,it's greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it is the outdoor unit cycling or is your blower only that is cycling? What do you have the fan setting on? What is the make and model numbers of your hvac equipment?

Hi. Thanks for your help. Yes it sounds like both the outdoor unit and the blower are cycling. My fan setting is on auto cool with a permanent hold at 77 degrees. My hvac equipment is a confortmaker 10 model number nac046aka1. Thanks again for your help.

instead of guessing by saying it sounds like, you should verify bey checking to see if the outdoor unit is cycling or not.

I just confirmed for sure that the outside unit cycles also. Is this normal? Thank you again for your help and knowledge.

sounds like a faulty thermostat...... The DIY line from HW is really going down in my opinion I very seldom have issues with the professional line.
