Exclamation Hunter 44668 turns AC on

    Hello folks
I purchased New Hunter 44668 at my local store last night. We have split level house and I want the remote feature. I install the thermostat right away and set it to remote. After I went to bed I realized my AC unit is on. We leave in Frankfort IL and right now we have -6F outside. Why the thermostat keep turning on my AC? It says "heat" on the panel. Did I connect the wires wrong? My system is a 4 wire system.

Possibly programmed wrong... or a bad thermostat. Remove the wire from Y at the thermostat and see what happens. Y controls the outdoor unit.

SOmething is wrong with the instructions they provide on how to connect the wires. Here they say if I have 4 wire system then I should connect jumper between terminals RH and RC1 Hunter 44668 Installation Instructions and here on pg 49 they say to connect the jumper wire between terminals RC and RH Hunter 44668 manual.
Which way should I connect it then?

Looking at the drawings on page 49 it look like the RC and RC1 terminals are internally jumpered inside the thermostat. Install a jumper between RC and RH and you should be good.

I've seen a few of these thermostats fail where it would run the heat and AC at the same time.
Also verify the HP/STD jumper/switch is is the STD position not HP if your model has such a switch. These are common on Hunter stats.
