White Rodger has been making thermostats for 75 years. The Sensi thermostat is white Rodgers first wifi thermostat release. The Sensi 1F86U-42WF wifi thermostat is a simple affordable way to get your HVAC system connected to a wifi smart thermostat. The Sensi thermostat has been designed to be simple to install, simple to connect to the internet and simple to use. The Sensi thermostat is one of the simplest wifi thermostat to install because there is a app that is used to install the thermostat. The app will step you though each step of the install process and there are links in the app to videos that will assist you in the install if needed. The app can be used by homeowners or professional HVAC contractors. In the professional mode the HVAC contractor can add their contact information to the Sensi thermostat and be able to configure the Sensi without setting up the wifi if the homeowner is not available. The homeowner could then complete the wifi setup using the app on their own.

The Sensi can operate on two AA batteries because the sensi does not have a touch screen and the wifi uses a low power consuming chip. The screen on the Sensi is a monochrome screen. The screen has large easy to read digits. The Sensi thermostat has clean lines and the thermostat has a high quality feel. Even though the screen on the Sensi is not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the other wifi thermostats. The beauty of the Sensi is in the app, thermostat price and the ability to use the Sensi on a HVAC system that do not have a common wire. One of the many things the app does is change colors depending on if the HVAC system is in cooling = blue screen, heating = red screen, standby = gray screen.

Multiple schedules
For special events and vacation mode the Sensi uses a unique multiple schedules mode. Everybody's schedule isn't the same every week. You can create schedules to accommodate shift workers, vacation time or children home for the summer. The Sensi allows for multiple schedules for cooling schedules, heating schedules and auto schedules. Multiple schedules are turned on in the schedule setting area. When multiple schedules are turned on you can select which schedule that you want the Sensi to control to in the app or on the Sensi web page.

The first release of the Sensi thermostat firmware version 6003980704 does not include equipment runtimes, filter email alarm, space temp high / low email alarms, Equipment runtime today vs yesterday and 7 day, historical graphical tending for set points, space temp, equipment commands. White Rodgers has plans to included these items in future updates.

Heat pump control
The Sensi thermostat keep the electric heat off during a setback until the algorithm determines that the heat pump can’t meet the setpoint in a given amount of time and electric heat is required to meet demand. White Rodgers uses the same proven staging algorithm in the Sensi thermostat as they do in all of their high end heat pump thermostats that balances comfort and economy for heat pump / electric heat systems.

The terminals on the Sensi sub base are RC, RH, O/B, Y, G, W/E, C, L, Y2, W2. There is no C wire required for most applications. The Sensi works on heating and cooling systems with or without a “C” wire. The wall plate of the Sensi thermostat has integrated level. The thermostat is easy to remove from the wall plate with just a small amount of pulling force.

On the back of the Sensi thermostat there are three jumpers
RC/RH = This jumper would be cut on a HVAC system that has two transformers
PS-Y = This Jumper is for a future option to use the thermostat with a two cooling system
PS-W This jumper is for a future option to the thermostat with a two wire heating system

Advanced Setting

A/C protection - This feature will delay cooling for a few minutes when cooling is turned off and quickly back on. This prevents damage to your equipment.

Temperature Offset = Can be adjusted from +5 to -5. You can change the temperature display to match your previous thermostat or thermometer. Sensi will use the new number as the actual temperature of the room.

Cycle Rates
Heat and Cool cycle – Can be set to medium or fast. A faster cycle rate means tighter temperature control in both heating and cooling. It also means your equipment will turn on/off more. If you have radiant heat, make sure you select a slow cycle rate for heating for best comfort

Single Stage gas, oil, electric.
Single Stage heat pump
Multi-Stage gas, oil, electric
