I had a new Lennox HVAC system installed in March with the iComfort S30 thermostat. Especially during the warm weather here in Oklahoma the system is on for 5 minutes off for 5 minutes on warm days. I can't see how this can be good for the AC compressor so called my contractor out to check. They advised the system is working as it should. I know this thermostat is designed to keep the house consistently at the same temp. My old thermostat had a 1 degree variance. The unit did not come on until the temp reached 1 degree above the set temp and ran until the temp dropped 1 degree below the set. I have heard other people complain about the same issue with different brand wifi thermostats. Is this just a fact of life with wifi thermostats or can they be programmed with the temp variance also? No one seems to be able to answer my question. I worry about the longevity of my new system with the on/off cycles being so short.
