Question what other reasons to cause no power in a thermostat?

my wifi thermostat's screen is totally blank, i am guessing that it is due to no electricity in the c wire. it worked perfectly during the summer time.

i don't know what caused that. i was able to use it to turn on the heater for a few minutes before it went totally bad.

now i am thinking if i hire someone to come and fix it for me, it will cost me at least 80 dollars or more. with that money, i can just buy a new thermostat that gets its power from a power adapter.

but i am not sure if it is the only reason, assuming that the thermostat itself is functional.

my question is: if i just buy a new thermostat without the requirement of a c wire, will it work?

Might have a limit switch tripped, fuse blown, or other issue in the furnace.
