    Question RTH9580 wiring question

    I have a Goodman AR32 1 air electric central air unit which provides both cooling and heating. The thermostat has no wire connected to the C position. There are only 4 wires and are as follows W Y RC (jumpered with R) and G2. I connected W Y RC and placed the cable that was in G2 into the C position. The Honeywell thermostat did not turn on.

    Rc --> Rc
    W --> W
    Y --> Y
    G2 --> C

    What else can I try?

    Thanks.

    What is the manufactures name and model number of your existing thermostat? The G2 terminal is most likely the indoor fan wire. You may be able to use the the G2 wire as the common wire if you connect to the C terminal in the indoor air handling unit. You could also use a Venstar add a wire devise from amazon

    The thermostat is from Maple Chase. I looked around and the only number I see is 0224, not sure if that is the model number. I am attaching a image of the thermostat. I saw the control board for the air handling unit has both a G and C connectors. I have an extra wire that is not connected to anything. Should I move the G to the C or leave the G connected and add the free wire to connect to the C?

    Use the spare wire and connect the other end of the spare wire to the C terminal at the indoor air handling unit.
